When it comes to emergency vehicles responding to calls, visibility is everything. You want to make sure that trucks, ambulances and all other types of automobiles that your department uses are as visible as possible. Unfortunately, only so much can be done with appliques, stickers and paint.
When it comes to emergency vehicles responding to calls, visibility is everything. You want to make sure that trucks, ambulances and all other types of automobiles that your department uses are as visible as possible. Unfortunately, only so much can be done with appliques, stickers and paint.
That’s precisely why so many departments have now started to turn instead to reflective vinyl wraps. These offer all of the benefits that other graphic vinyl wraps do along with the added benefit of featuring an extra degree of safety in the form of reflective coatings.
In theory, you could make a vinyl wrap offer drivers any sort of features that you’d want to. Motorists could travel around with advertising graphics in this way, or they could cover their sports cars in something classy. By applying this same technology to the first-responder market, you may be able to potentially increase the amount of visibility of a particular vehicle.
Other motorists on the road might not be able to see emergency vehicles until they’re right on top of them, which could cause serious problems up to and including accidents. That’s why it’s important to have at least some reflective graphics on the vehicle in question.
Small bits of material in the reflective surface allow light to bounce off of it at a greater rate than you’d normally experience from other materials. That makes it far more visible and leads other drivers to see it as reflective. Technically, all materials are reflective to some degree, but this additional surface will help people see it far brighter than other things on the road.
Say a driver didn’t see an emergency vehicle and failed to slow down because they didn’t know it was there. Even if nothing else happens as a result, there’s always the chance that said vehicle would have to slow down dramatically. That could make them arrive at the scene of an accident later than they should have. Reflective graphics can also make parked emergency vehicles appear that much more brilliantly lit up, which nay further reduce the risk of collisions.
While you’ll want to take a few moments to map out the areas that you need to exhibit the highest degree of reflection, this shouldn’t be any more difficult than actually applying a vinyl wrap to any other type of vehicle. It might take slightly longer than normal based on size, but even then the ratio is still the same. That makes it more affordable and time-efficient than most other competing reflective technologies.
