Upgrade your Car with Custom Glass Cutting in Las Vegas

Upgrade your Car with Custom Glass Cutting in Las VegasOne of the most frustrating challenges of restoring classic cars and trucks is finding the right custom glass replacement. Auto glass has changed in many ways since the days of retro vehicles. For one thing, there are very few flat windows, which was a popular style for cars and trucks from the middle of the 20th century. Team Acme offers custom auto glass cutting to help you restore your classic vehicle so that it becomes safe and roadworthy once again.

Why You Need Custom Glass Cutting

Flat glass can be difficult to replace because the specs on a classic car are far different from anything on the market today. Team Acme uses laminated auto glass for the job. Laminated auto glass is made out of two panels of flat glass that are sealed together using a polymer bond. After the binding, the glass is cut to the shape and size that will let it interface with the internal mechanics of your car door or frame. Get a quote from our website to learn more.

Team Acme’s Custom Glass Cutting and Replacement Process

To us here at Team Acme, a beautiful classic car is like a piece of fine art that deserves the best possible preservation and treatment. We take pride in our work, which is why we have developed a strict process that lets us produce quality results time and time again.

Team Acme’s Custom Glass Replacement Process goes as follows…

Step 1: We take extreme care while removing the old glass. It can become extra brittle over the years due to chips and microfractures. We research and follow the manufacturer’s specifications as often as possible.

Step 2: After the old glass is removed, we utilize this as a template for the next piece of glass. This lets us recreate the exact size and shape of the old pane of glass.

Step 3: After careful measuring, we are able to cut a new piece of glass for your vehicle. We then carefully sand down the edges to make sure the fit is exact. In stationary windows, this helps with fit and insulation, and it helps you operate moving windows as well.

Step 4: We finish the sanding process, then follow the manufacturer’s instructions in order to perform a secure installation.

Custom Glass Cutting for Classic Vehicles

custom auto glassRestoring classic cars can be incredibly frustrating, yet rewarding.  Taking an older car and restoring it to its original beauty can often take months – if not years.  One area that is often overlooked in a car restoration is glass replacement.  Classic cars often require custom glass cutting due to the fact that older cars use flat automotive glass as opposed to curved glass.

Why Classic Vehicles Need Custom Glass Cutting

Many older classic vehicles have much different glass needs than today’s more modern vehicles, but flat glass can be difficult to replace and often must be custom built to the exact specifications of a certain vehicle.

To replace flat glass in classic vehicles, Team Acme utilizes laminated glass.  Laminated glass utilizes two pieces of flat glass that are affixed together using a polymer bond.  After bonding, the glass is then cut to the custom size and shape for that specific project.

Custom Glass Cutting Process

We take great pride in the work we’ve done for classic car owners over the years.  We utilize a strict process to ensure that we are able to produce a high quality product that always pleases.

1. We begin by removing the old window with extreme care.  Old glass windows can often be difficult to remove and therefore we take extra care to ensure that we do not damage the glass or the vehicle.  We attempt to follow manufacturer specifications whenever possible.

2. After the old glass is removed, we use it as a template to outline the window shape on a new piece of glass.  This allows us to match the exact size and shape of the old glass.

3. After careful measurement, we are able to cut the new glass to match the existing glass size and shape.  After cutting, we sand all of the edges of the new glass to ensure an exact fit.

4. After sanding and cutting are complete, we install the new piece of glass according the manufacturer specifications.

Custom Glass Options

Our laminated glass is available in solex green as well as clear and smoked glass.  We also offer tempered glass in these same colors, but our tempered glass can only be installed on side or back windows.

Classic Vehicle Glass Cutting

This is a special kind of glass replacement that involves laminated glass. Laminated glass consists of two flat glass pieces that are fit together using a polymer bond. Once bonded, the glass is cut to the proper shape and size to fit a particular application. This includes heavy equipment, box trucks, antique car door, and flat windshields, or any other vehicles that use flat automotive glass.

After replacing and restoring auto glass on various classic cars, hot rods, and specialty vehicles, we recognize how different the needs of each vehicle truly are. This is why we offer custom auto glass fabrication for vehicle owners who need something out of the ordinary. Whether for a classic car, a hot rod, or a completely custom project, we have all the tools and skills necessary to restore or replace your auto glass.

Why Classic Cars Need Custom Auto Glass

Classic Car Custom Glass CutYou may have seen films or pictures of the first Ford ever made, of cars that required cranks to start, or of the classic Ferraris from the 1960s. Some collectors love to find older models, restore and then maintain them. And who can blame them? A Cadillac or Ferrari forty years ago still has a gorgeous structure. Even amateur car hobbyists can admire the beauty.

With that said, styles have changed over the years, with how companies have adapted with the times. Many classic cars have different needs when it comes to glass restoration or replacement. This is because their shape, structure, and thickness often differ from more contemporary vehicles. You won’t find a 2020 Ford that’s the same as one that rolled off the 1920s assembly line, and that’s just one example. Our custom glass fabrication allows you to modify your car the way you’ve envisioned.

Each fabrication and installation is done on a case-by-case basis and we handle each project with the utmost care, consideration, and respect for your classic. Our team will spend time with you to discuss any ideas or specifications you may have to ensure that our work perfectly matches the look and period of your car.

Custom Auto Glass For Your Hot Rod

We fabricate both flat and curved auto glass of the highest quality. Available in various thicknesses, our replacements are tailor-made to fit your hot rod like a glove. With all of our processes done in-house, we’ll work with you to achieve the look and feel you want your hot rod to have.

In addition, we ensure that the glass is safe for driving. You can combine the aesthetics of vintage cars with the practicalities of twenty-first-century road safety. When we go over the details with you, we will make sure that the custom auto glass will meet the appropriate standards on the road.

Chop Top Glass Cutting

Although cutting down a vehicle makes it illegal for road use, we can cut down the most glass to match the body of a show or off-road vehicle as long as the chop geometry and alignment of all glass in question is correct.

No warranty is given on chop top applications. The job can be tricky if the glass’s curves change from the top to the bottom. We always will go into the details on size preference so that you will enjoy the final result. Fitment issues and leaks are prevalent due to the modification of the vehicle.

Our Process

Our experts go through the following steps to replace and design the glass on your vehicle.

We remove the old window following manufacturer specifications.
Using the old window as a template, car experts outline glass onto a new sheet of glass and begin cutting it down to the proper size and shape.
After the design and cutting are done, our experts smooth all edges with proper sanding techniques.
Finally, we install the new glass following the manufacturers’ specifications.

Glass Options

Laminated glass colors: standard Solex green, clear, and smoked.
Tempered is also available in the same colors when the size exceeds 12″. This is only useable for side and back window applications.

Custom Glass Warranty

The custom windshield warranty is consistent with our windshield replacement warranty. Due to the customization of old vehicles, its age, and the tracks that hold many of the windows in place, the warranty will depend on the condition of the vehicle and the area where the laminated glass is installed. The better condition your vehicle is in, the better estimate we can give on potential repairs in the future.

No official warranty can be written for this type of application that the manufacturer will offer. You can only use it at the Team Acme shop, for necessary repairs and replacement. Applicable warranties become non-transferable if the vehicle is sold.

Custom Window Graphics for Businesses

You don’t want your potential customers to walk right past your business. How can you get their attention? Well, surely a sign of some sort is a necessity. Yet signage must be expressive of your brand. It must convey your message in well-chosen words and images. It need not be as complicated as it might seem. Many places of business use vinyl graphics to display the name and hours of operation, as well as listing and promoting any services or products. Sales and special offers need words and images to publicize the business’ message in a clear and distinctive manner. Of course, the goal is to meet these objectives with quality materials at an affordable price.

The Benefits of Custom Window Graphics

Custom window graphics meet this need perfectly. They are just right for displaying a brand, publicizing goods and services offered and advertising any promotional offers or sales. Any glass surface can be adorned decoratively without the need for painting. Custom graphics are more affordable, durable, and easily removed. They can be applied to interior and exterior windows.

Custom Window Graphics Are an Extension of a Business

These graphics are a creative expression of your brand. Made to order graphics allow a business on a more limited budget to brand as wisely and effectively as those with bigger budgets. This is an integral part of a company’s marketing plan. While careful consideration must be given to window advertising, professionals are here for you.

Allow Professionals to Create and Install Your Custom Window Graphics

A professional in custom business window graphics can guide you through the choices and assist you in designing an attractive and effective presentation for the public. The window-advertising professionals need to have some information about the business and ideas that the owners have for the project. An understanding of the client’s budget is important at the outset.

What Professionals Will Need From You

Having measurements and pictures of the storefront, doors and/or windows included in the project is also a key piece of information. This helps the graphics team choose the appropriate materials. Knowing the budget and surface area allows the design professional to prepare a quote estimating the project’s cost. Most window graphics professionals will request a deposit before beginning to design and install the window art or advertising.

Team Acme’s Installation Process for Custom Window Graphics

Any images, artwork or concepts of the client are the foundation of the design process. The vinyl graphics design team will share designs with the client via email. This allows for the client to respond with suggestions and further thoughts. Eventually the client must approve the team’s design. At that point, printing and cutting custom window graphics will commence. The team prepares the glass surface before the installation after the printed graphics have been allowed to outgas for a full day.
Once the artwork is in place on the window and glass surfaces, it is fun to watch the reaction of people walking by. The design will attract them to your shop almost like a magnet. The striking graphics will catch the eyes of potential customers and their feet will cross the threshold into your place where they will, in fact, be your new customer.

Advertising on Glass: Residential and Auto

Advertising on Glass: Residential and Auto

It’s happened to all of us: we’re in the car and a hard-to-read bumper sticker or massive design on the back window of a vehicle catches our attention. It’s impossible to not look—we must find out what it says and what it’s for. Many times, we learn some useless information—such as, the driver completed a half-marathon or has three children and two cats—but, needless to say, this is the reason mobile advertising is so effective: people are drawn to anything around them that is remotely interesting and eye-catching.

The same goes for store windows and doors. If you advertise on glass, people will notice it. And if it’s for a service they find they need or become interested in, they might come to you for business.

The Benefits of Advertising on Glass

Besides the fact that advertising on store and automobile windows is effective, there are many reasons why advertising on glass might be just what your business is looking for:

  1. The process of applying advertisement to glass is an easy one and when it’s time to remove the advertisement or update the information it’s also pretty simple.
  2. Window wraps do not require permits, so making your vision a reality can happen quicker.
  3. The options of what you can do are virtually endless

When it comes to the content of what is being advertised, there are many ways to make your business known. Team Acme can help set you and your business up with something modest or, in the opposite direction, something that will completely transform your business and how it is viewed by the world.

There are many different options when it comes to the material used for advertising on glass. Team Acme offers block-out vinyl, frosted films, plotted vinyl, print/dye cut, reflective and one-way window vision when it comes to meeting your window advertising needs.

What Can You Do With Window Advertising

With Team Acme, you can wrap your entire car to make one huge advertisement for your business or you could just advertise on the windows. The back window of your vehicle is prime real estate for advertising and getting the message you want to get across out there.

At your actual business location, Team Acme can help you to create a design for your door to help customers locate the entrance to your business. Window advertisements can also be made to display products, discounts and examples of your work in your business’ location.

The best benefit of window advertising is that it can help set your business apart from everyone else. Window advertisements increase the curiosity of potential customers and get them through your door. Ultimately, window advertisements improve the awareness of your brand.

Team Acme’s Process

When it comes to window advertisements, Team Acme’s process begins with getting a general idea of the design and the budget the project will entail. We decide on which vinyl we will use and how much surface area the project will cover. When we are working with the design, we will constantly communicate with the customer using detailed visual emails to make sure we are doing a satisfactory job.

Once the artwork is approved, we start the print and/or cutting of the graphics and come to your location to begin the installation. The amount of time needed for installation and the prices for each project vary based on a few different factors that are detailed more on our website.

All You Need to Know About Classic Vehicle Glass Cutting in Las Vegas

All You Need to Know About Classic Vehicle Glass Cutting in Las VegasYou can find all sorts of classic vehicles roaming the streets of Las Vegas as well as some five-star hotel lobbies. Whether they’re decked out with graphic images, gold plating or a full glitter cover, every car is unique in its own way.

Some classic vehicle owners tend to modify their car’s appearance to fit a more contemporary scheme; many do so by updating the car’s vintage glass. Due to the fact that classic cars come in sizes, shapes, and thicknesses that differ from those of modern vehicles, a customized glass cut is necessary to change a vehicle’s appeal.

What Is Classic Vehicle Glass Cutting?

In order to adapt to the construction of a classic vehicle, the glass replacement process involves the use of laminated glass, which is made up of two flat glass pieces that are held together with a polymer blend. This glass is cut to a specific shape and size suitable to its specific application, which can include everything from antique car doors and flat windshields, among others.

Team Acme’s Processes

Team Acme realizes the importance of each vehicle’s particular needs, which is why we offer custom auto glass production processes for those who’d like to step out of the box when it comes to their vehicle’s design. Following the instructions listed by the vehicle’s manufacturer, we firstly remove the old window and we use it as a template.

Next, we outline the glass onto a new glass sheet and start cutting it down to the right size and shape. Then, using the right sanding techniques, we smooth out all the edges and finally install the new glass according to the manufacturer’s instruction.

Glass Cutting for Hot Rods and Chop Tops

Team Acme uses high quality flat and curved glass, which can be utilized for several types of applications. Our tailored glass applications can perfectly fit your hot rod. As far as chop tops go, we can cut down most glass to fit a vehicle’s desired look while making sure that the chop geometry and alignment are correct.

What Kind of Glass Can You Find at Team Acme?

We have different laminated glass colors including standard solex green, clear and smoked. When the size of the glass exceeds 12 inches, tempered glass can be found in the same colors. Tempered glass can only be applied on side and back windows.

Warranty Terms

Chop top applications don’t come with a warranty. The modification of the vehicle may cause leaks or fitment issues. Our custom windshield warranty is the same as our windshield replacement warranty.

Just as each vehicle requires a special kind of glass replacement due its size, shape, and age, each warranty differs based on such elements, along with factors like the vehicle’s condition and location in which the laminated glass will be installed. You may not transfer applicable warranties if the vehicle is sold.

Is Sunroof Tinting Safe? Learn All the Risks & How to Avoid Them

Is Sunroof Tinting Safe? Learn All the Risks & How to Avoid Them

Most drivers and car owners in sunny areas get window tint for their vehicles. Getting a sunroof tinted is another viable option. You may ask if sun tinting is safe. Never fear; learn all the risks that come with tinting your car sunroof, and how to avoid them.

Since there have been sunroofs on cars, people have been tinting them. That doesn’t necessarily mean the practice as a whole is safe and people have begun questioning the safety of sunroof tinting. Here we have compiled a list of the risks associated with sunroof tinting and how to avoid them.

Why You Should Tint Your Sunroof

One of the best things about Southern Nevada, especially in the Las Vegas area, is the beautiful year-round weather. With this in mind, a car offering a sunroof can be a popular choice. There are, however, some disadvantages to having a sunroof on your car. New model cars have full panel sunroofs that take up as much as half of the roof’s surface.

The most significant of these disadvantages is a byproduct of the sunroof’s intended function. When the sunroof allows light to fill your car, it also allows the sun to increase the temperature inside your vehicle. Rays damage the car’s interior surfaces as well.

Reducing Harmful UV Rays

Tinting your car’s glass surfaces, including the sunroof, is a great way to help keep the temperature down inside your vehicle. It can also increase the privacy of your vehicle while at the same time helping to protect the interior surfaces of your car from cracking, fading, peeling, and other heat/UV-related damage.

Tinting decreases the internal temperature of your vehicle by as much as 60%. It also reduces UV entering your car by as much as 95%. The UV entering your car damages your skin, hair, and, most importantly, your eyes while driving.

Improper Sunroof Tint Installation

Tinting a sunroof is an entirely different ballgame. When an installer does a window-tinting job, it is pretty straightforward. The windows are right there in front of them and easy to reach. The installer is basically upside down in your car. In this awkward position, mistakes are more common.

Often, a blade slips during trimming and will scratch the glass or cut the wire. You can also encounter loose or frayed edges. A dull cutter usually causes these damaged edges. Possibly gathering in the tracks, these edges contribute to the sunroof not opening smoothly and can even cause it to become stuck. Take your vehicle to a professional window tinting company to avoid these issues.

Not The Correct Sunroof Tint

Anyone who spends considerable time driving can tell you about the Sun’s effects. The left arm will always be darker than the right. Sun exposure can increase the risk of skin cancer. Tinting the sunroof is an excellent way to add a barrier between you and the sun’s harmful rays and can block up to 90% of UV rays.

If you have the wrong tint for your climate, though, you are causing more harm than good. The window tinting professionals at Team Acme know how the harsh desert sun can damage your vehicle’s interior. Their certified techs will explain the difference between your film options. Darker tints retain more heat, which may be acceptable in the cooler, northern region. Lighter or silver hues are more desirable to those in a scorching environment.

Sunroof Shattering

One common belief that tinting the sunroof will cause it to shatter is a myth. This is not true. Many people concerned about cracking their glass might fundamentally misunderstand how auto glass tinting works.

All the windows around you, sides, windshield, and rear windows or hatch are composed of laminated glass. Laminated glass is shatterproof glass designed to mesh or web on impact, creating rounded edges to prevent injury during a crash. It is designed to be more rigid than laminated glass, dispersing heat over its surface, thereby holding its shape in extreme climate conditions. Sunroofs are composed of tempered glass that will shatter.

Tinting Doesn’t Break Glass

Tinting a piece of glass, even your sunroof, will not inherently break the glass. Imperfections in the glass make it structurally vulnerable, increasing the chance of the glass falling.

Tint changes the amount of heat that the glass can absorb. This change in heat absorption can change how the glass expands and contracts when it heats up or cools. This change can lead to glass already being vulnerable to cracking or breaking. It has nothing to do with the tint material or process but rather the quality and condition of the glass itself.

Why Bad Tinting Installers Hurt Your Car Interior

Poor quality installations are a top cause of cracked glass such as this. For instance, those who take their vehicles to be tinted at a place with little experience will run into problems.

Consider how much pressure must be used to get tinting material to adhere to the existing window glass. The more force applied to a piece of glass, the more likely it is to break. Inexperienced installers may press far too hard or use a tool that exerts too much force. This can cause cracks, especially if they repeat this abuse more than once.

Our team would like to introduce interested motorists to the concept of tempered glass. We use the best glass available whenever we take on an auto glass job. At the same time, those with better window glass can expect better outcomes.

What You Should Know About Tempered Auto Glass

Most sunroof glass is made of tempered glass, as opposed to laminated glass, which is nearly always used for your windshield. Tempered glass is made by rapidly heating and cooling the glass.

If you are involved in an accident and your sunroof (or side/back windows break), the glass will not shatter over the passengers in your vehicle. Instead, the glass breaks into small, dull, pebble-like pieces that rarely cause any injury. This process gives the glass added strength and protects against shattering.

When tempered glass breaks, it generally cannot be repaired but often needs to be replaced. If you notice a crack in your sunroof, get it to a reputable auto glass repair shop for an assessment. Cracks can proliferate. The sooner your sunroof is fixed, the better.

Suppose, however, that tinting is applied correctly. The only reason you’d ever experience this issue is some external force acting on your vehicle. Provided this doesn’t happen, you shouldn’t have to worry. What you’ll want to do, however, is talk to an experienced installer.

Tempered Auto Glass Application

The problems occur not when it is tinted but when pressure is applied. A good example is a recent recall by two major manufacturers. Why? The sunroofs were shattering when stressed. The natural reflection of the car’s frame taking a sharp curve or a sudden stop was putting enough stress on the sunroof to break the glass, tinted or not.

The final verdict is that sunroof tinting is not the culprit. The manufacturer’s choice of glass is.

If you live in or near Las Vegas or the Nevada region, you know how unrelenting the sun can be, especially during summer. And if your car has a sunroof, you know how necessary it is for that sunroof to provide some much-needed relief from the sun’s UV rays.

Benefits Of Sunroof Tinting

High-quality auto-glass tints offer many benefits in all types of climates. They not only shield your car’s passenger seats from the long-term hazardous effects of the sun’s rays, but they will also protect you and your passengers from exposure to damaging UV rays.

Long-term exposure to the sun’s UV can put drivers and passengers at risk of health issues, including skin cancer. At the very least, adequate protection from too much UV light will make your driving experience in sunny conditions more pleasant. Your drive will also be safer thanks to the reduced glare, which can hamper visibility.

How Much Does Sunroof Repair Cost In Las Vegas?

If you live in Nevada, you may wonder how much a sunroof repair would cost in Las Vegas. After all, auto glass can lead to potentially high estimates depending on the repair shop. Evaluating the service options can help you make an informed decision for cars, trucks, or other vehicles.

Sunroof Repair Costs

The area around Henderson and Las Vegas, Nevada, has lovely weather. Countless motorists rely on their sunroof or moonroof installations to provide a comfortable way of beating the heat. That said, they can run into some pretty severe issues if they ever find that the equipment has worn out for whatever reason.

At times, there’s a chance that some object might fall onto a closed sunroof and smash a portion of it. When leaving the city, you might have scraped it due to a lower overpass. Cautious drivers who never deal with these problems could still get stuck behind a dump truck spewing gravel.

Worst of all, your sunroof might eventually wear out. Depending on the type of damage and what caused it, you might be able to save money on the repairs. It never hurts to do more research.

Luxury Car Sunroof

Work done on your sunroof may be considered a type of auto glass repair, which means there’s a good chance your insurance company won’t count it against you if you file a claim for them. Since damage to automotive glass happens for many reasons, many of which are out of a driver’s hands, insurance providers have traditionally been more lenient with them. That means you don’t have to factor in future expenses nearly as much.

Those who end up paying out of pocket might still not have to shell out that much money depending on the type of repairs necessary and how involved they are. Sometimes, however, you can save a little extra money if you’re concerned about the potential expenses involved.

Basics Of Sunroof Repair

A sunroof is a horizontal panel, usually made of glass, on a vehicle’s roof. Sunroofs allow air to circulate throughout a vehicle on hot days and provide car owners with a view of the sky at all times.

Power windows and power sunroofs offer similar functions, but power sunroofs often have to operate vertically and horizontally (depending on the make and model). Sunroofs can be controlled manually or automatically, contingent on the vehicle model. For sunroofs powered electronically, drivers often need to press or hold a button to open or close the sunroof.

While sunroofs are incredibly convenient, they can often become inoperable or begin to leak as they age. When these issues arise, a car owner needs to enlist the help of a reputable company offering sunroof repair services.

Tinting Is More Than A Luxury; It’s A Necessity

Having your side and back windows tinted is almost necessary for the Las Vegas area. With that in mind, you may have thought, why not get the sunroof of your car tinted?

You may have heard that tinting your sunroof’s glass could cause the glass to crack or break. This tale is primarily an urban legend with a small amount of truth. Nevertheless, the grain of truth has nothing to do with the tinting and more with glassmaking. Allow us to explain.

Designed To Be Broken To Keep You Safe

The glass that makes up your sunroof is a type of special glass known as tempered glass. Tempered glass is used in almost all of your vehicle’s passenger compartment glass surfaces.

A glassmaker takes regular glass panels, rapidly heats them, and then cools them down several times in a row. This process radically changes the structural makeup of the glass, making it many times stronger than a non-tempered glass of the same size and thickness.

Another quality of tempered glass is that it will not shatter or splinter when broken. Instead, it will just burst into tiny pebble-like pieces with dull edges.

These pieces will not cut or otherwise injure vehicle occupants during an accident or other situation with glass damage. One cannot repair tempered glass once it is damaged. An expert needs to replace the whole.

Safety doesn’t just come from glass resistance to breakage, either. Think about what ultraviolet light is doing to your health as well as the interior of your car. It can warp plastic, not to mention what it can do to people or animals in the passenger compartment.

Tinting is more often a necessity than a cosmetic. Even a relatively light amount of window tinting can help to improve the safety image on this front. The process could potentially lower the interior temperature.

Excessive heat causes its list of problems, even if an excessive amount of UV rays doesn’t accompany it. By investing in some window tinting, you can help to keep temperatures lower.

Businesses that have to ship temperature-sensitive products in the greater Las Vegas area rely on technology. They don’t seem to be afraid of their windows cracking. Such businesses would have the most to lose by experiencing this sort of problem.
