How to Prevent Water Spots Ruining Your Boat’s Paint Job

How to Prevent Water Spots Ruining Your Boat’s Paint Job

If you are a boat owner, there’s no question that you love the water, the outdoors, and your boat! There is nothing better than spending your free time afloat. In addition to all of that great leisure time for you and your family, you also probably want to keep your boat looking its best. That’s why you want to learn how to prevent water spots from ruining your boat’s paint job.

Maintenance Of A Boat

It can take some time and effort to properly take care of your boat. If you have owned a boat for a significant period of time, you are already aware of how difficult upkeep can be. Water stains are one issue that can drive you absolutely nuts!

Water spots happen when the degree of waterproofing on the exterior of the boat being overcome by the amount of water. If you’re riding around in turbid water, then the risk of this happening is much greater. Your boat’s paint scheme is also at risk for discoloration, which is even more apparent if you have it decked out in bright livery.

Fortunately, you can protect your investment and keep your boat looking good for longer. The trick is simply investing in the right kind of protective film.

Paint Protective Film for your Boat

Boat Paint Job

The challenge of managing water stains on your boat is complicated because of all of the different materials that you need to protect. Some of the most vulnerable areas of your boat are the areas that you and your guests touch on their way in and out of the boat. Water stains can be prevented on the top rails, where people climb into or out of the boat or walk on the bow, or where the trailer might touch the gel coat and rub.

Paint protection film (PPF) is a thin, rubber-like film that can be stretched and molded to protect these high impact areas of your boat. Using PPF is one of the most practical decisions you can make for the life of your boat. While it is not perfect for your entire boat (this would simply cost too much), it is invisible.

The Benefits of Paint Protection Films to Boats

As a result, water spots can very easily be removed with simple buffing and waxing. As the season changes and you get ready to use your boat on a more regular basis, consider PPF installation as a way to protect and preserve your boat from the harsher elements of life on the water.

More than likely, you won’t be able to notice that anything is amiss with your boat once the protective covering has been installed. Some boaters might be concerned about it drastically changing the look of their vehicles.

This shouldn’t be a problem. Not only is the coating invisible, but it’s also transparent. you’ll be able to see any detailing on your boat that would be covered by it without any difficulty. Sunlight and even the lights of a showroom floor won’t look any different either.

While this might not necessarily be a concern for you, it certainly is for many people who work at maritime dealerships. If you’re in the process of refurbishing and launching boats, then this should be more than enough reason to pick this process. It’s certainly far more effective than leaving your vehicle untreated.

Identifying Water Spots In A Boat’s Small Areas

In many cases, the protective film can even make your boat easier to clean. Water spots are often symptoms of a bigger problem. You might start to notice spots that are abnormally dark or light on the paint alongside the hull of your boat, which can start to really look terrible. Once this coating is on, you shouldn’t have much difficulty cleaning off the debris and water that would have normally caused this kind of problem.

Keep in mind that PPF technology isn’t exclusively for boats. You could theoretically use it on another type of vehicle. Most commonly, RV owners will treat the sides and corners of their RVs with the same material so they won’t suffer from water spots or other discolorations. You might want also to do the same to anything else special in your inventory.

Some car collectors have been using a similar process for years, in part because they trust it to cut down on the amount of damage that ambient humidity can do to the paint scheme of a car when it’s kept in storage.

Team Acme is Ready to Install PPF on Your Boat, Vehicle or Other Recreational Vehicles

We understand this kind of job can add up quickly, so we are mindful of using PPF in the most strategic ways so that you get the benefit that you are looking for. Team Acme stands behind the products we use and the installation process. You will find that our crew is dependable and customer-focused, and ready and willing to brainstorm with you about the best way to complete your job.

If you have an unusually shaped or sized boat, then we’ll work with you to plan on how to tackle the issue. Water spots often seem to be a bigger problem on longer vessels simply because there’s more hull space to spoil. Our crews are able to cover over all of the problem areas and dramatically reduce the chances of this happening.

Team Acme has been installing paint protection film on cars, trucks, boats, and recreational vehicles for more than a decade. We can take the necessary measurements, provide you with a quote and an estimate of how long this particular job will take. We can also help you determine the best parts of your boat, vehicle, or RV to cover so that you get the most out of your investment.

Make a plan to protect your boat this year! Get a free quote or contact us online for more information.

Paint Protection Film for RVs, Boats, and Recreational Vehicles

Paint protection film (PPF), also called clear bra paint protection, is a thin, rubber-like film that can be stretched and molded to fit most major impact areas on any recreational vehicle. The Paint Protection Film for RVs, Boats, and Recreational Vehiclesmilitary industrialized it, and Used to protect paint and headlight lenses, PPF is a simple way to keep your vehicle looking good for years to come.

RV Paint Protection

One of the largest investments someone can make on wheels, a motorhome is an expensive investment that should be properly cared for. Clear bra paint protection will keep the front of your coach looking as pristine as the interior, no matter what adventures life may bring.

Mainly, paint protection shields your car from road debris, water damage or UV rays. Especially in areas with high traffic, random dust and rocks can end up on your car body, creating tiny nicks and scratches.

In the state of Nevada and other bright areas, many vehicles run the risk of bleaching from excessive sunlight. This affects both the exterior and the interior. Having an extra layer of PFF reduces the potential damage and adds years of life to your vehicle.

Additionally, paint protection can come in a transparent film. This means that you can show off your vehicle’s paint job without worry about it being obscured. Car specialists can apply the film so that it doesn’t hurt the paint finish, and it will contour to any vehicular body shape.

Boat Paint Protection

Boat paint protection is great insurance for your boat. Just think of all the abuse the top edges and the rear deck get from people climbing into the boat. Not to mention all of the toys that get thrown into the water and then drug back into the boat. You can also protect the sides of the boat where the dock might rub.

Almost invisible and easily changed out if damaged, PPF is the most practical decision you can make when it comes to caring for your boat. Gel coat is not something that you can just patch paint back in and a proper repair is a lot of work and money. Just protecting the high traffic and impact areas are sure to keep your investment in shape to keep its value at its peak.

It’s easy to remove water spots from this film, and it can be buffed and waxed if necessary. As a boat owner myself, water spots are my worst enemy and PPF really helps.

Recreational Vehicles

Yes, that’s right! I said recreational vehicles. Southern Nevada has a great off-road community. This includes sand rails, trophy trucks, race buggies, etc. It won’t protect you from the other guys driving, but you won’t get sandblasted either.

You can also install PPF to protect those high traffic areas where people get in and out of the vehicle, often scraping their boots on your nice custom paint. Especially when you have families and large parties in the RV.

Paint Protection Cleaning On RV

Keeping your paint protection means that you can clean your RV without worries about water damage. This can include spotting on your paint job from leaving suds on one side for too long.

This works doubly so for in areas with water restrictions, and you ended to work on smaller kits. Many drivers need to work fast and with different car parts, that are made of fiberglass, aluminum, or glass. PPF helps reduce the need for painstaking effort.

Protect Your Investment With Team Acme Paint Protection

Paint protection film isn’t just for cars. Team Acme has a team of experts that can apply high-quality finishes to any vehicle. We will ensure that you will get extra years of life on your paint job, with the right amount of paint protection.

If you’ve got an RV, boat, or recreational vehicle and want to protect it from the more harsh elements of use, get a quote online, fill out the online form, or bring it down to our shop in Henderson. If you’re unsure that PPF will work for your vehicle, get in touch and we’ll talk to you about your options.

Team Acme’s creative and experienced graphic designers work with customers so ideas can come to life.

Here are a few vinyl wrap ideas for your transportation vehicle on the water:

  1. Showcase the Name of Your Boat

If you spend a lot of time around boats—whether they are motorboats, sailboats, or even rowboats—then you probably know boat names are a big deal. If you didn’t know this, then perhaps Titanic, Lusitania, or the Mayflower can clue you in.

Oftentimes, it’s a mystery why people name their boats what they do, but it can’t be denied that boat naming gives boat owners the chance to be clever or just plain showoff-y—but, honestly, why not show it off? You own a boat!

Team Acme can create a unique vinyl wrap design for your boat that incorporates the name of the boat along with whatever else design aspects you might be interested in.

  1. Make Your Boat Stand Out on the Water

Some boats are intended for leisure, while others are destined for racing. Did you know there is an entire industry for high power speedboat racing? Similar to other racing sports—horses, racecars, etc.—high speed power boats are typically decked out with graphics and eye-popping colors so they can be easily identifiable on the open water.

If your boat is not a racing boat, however, don’t fret. Team Acme can create eye-popping graphics and lettering for any type of boat.

  1. Improve the Appearance of Your Boat with a Vinyl Wrap

There are so many boats in the world to choose from. Just think about the process of buying a boat—it can be a difficult one. First, consumers must decide what kind of boat they want. Then, they have to determine the quality of the boat, along with its size, design, and engine power. There’s also the case of buying used or new.

Whatever kind of boat you have—large, small, used, or new—vinyl wraps are a great way to mix up the appearance of boats. Upgrade the appearance of your boat by adding vinyl details, graphics, or lettering. Improve the appearance of an older or faded boat by changing the color or design of the boat with a vinyl vehicle wrap.

Vinyl Lettering for Boats

Vinyl Lettering for BoatsSo you’ve just bought a boat and are absolutely dying to get it out on the water. However, there are a few important things you need to get out of the way first – the title, your registration, and the boat’s name!

Requirements for Boat Registration Numbers in Nevada

Once you receive your registration number from the Nevada Department of Wildlife, you’re going to have to decide how you’re going to put it on your boat. Nevada law requires you to display registration number (a Nevada Certificate of Number) and validation decals on your boat in order to legally operate the vessel on public waters.

However, there are some pretty strict guidelines you’ll need to follow when applying these decals. Your registration letters and numbers must:

  • Be permanently affixed to the forward half of each side of the vessel
  • Be placed so that they are clearly visible and legible
  • Read from left to right on both sides of the vessel
  • Be in block letters at least 3 inches high
  • Must contrast with the background
  • Be separated by a space or hyphen (for example LS  0229  VW or LS-0229-VW)

Validation decals must be placed on each side of the vessel toward the stern of the registration number and within 6 inches of and in line with the number.

Now you can order individual lettering from some online shop or paint them on yourself, but what guarantee do you have that they’re going to contrast the way you need them to or that the paint won’t wear away in the water?

Vinyl graphics can make it easy to follow all these regulations and professional installation will make sure their application does not mar the beauty of your boat.

Naming Your Boat

This is maybe one of the most exciting things for new boat owners. Whether you’ve known what you wanted since you were a kid or have talked it over with the family, you’re going to want to display it proudly on your transom, stern or somewhere above deck.

Now you can paint it on, too, but maybe you’re not such an artist. Vinyl graphics can rescue here, too. If you use a professional shop, you can get a design professional to help you achieve the look you want and the install team can make sure everything is straight and precisely placed.

Stripes, Decals and Other Graphics

If you’re feeling really adventurous, you can add other kinds of graphics to your boat. Whether you want include your home port, highlight a real sleek line, add fancy decals, or create a unique graphic that gives your boat personality, vinyl graphics are the perfect solution. They won’t ruin the finish and can really give your boat a unique look.

As a boat owner myself, I know how important it is for everything to look just right. If you’re a new boat owner in the Vegas area and are interested in a custom look and professionally installed lettering, decals, and graphics, contact Team Acme today! We can give you a quote, get you in the shop and out on the water fast!

Will My Insurance Cover My Vehicle Wrap?

Applying vinyl vehicle wraps to company cars or your vehicle is a cost-effective and appealing way to promote business and update the exterior look of vehicles. You may wonder, however, “Will my car insurance cover my vehicle wrap?” We have all the answers about how auto insurance works.

Why Apply Car Wrap To Your Vehicle?

By now, you most certainly see the many advantages of applying vinyl vehicle wraps to company-owned cars or even your professional vehicle. You may also see them on boats and trailers, sometimes for safety regulations.

Business Branding

These wraps are a fantastic way to build brand awareness and promote your business activities in an appealing and highly cost-effective manner. They are long-lasting, durable, protect the vehicle’s finish, and are easily changeable and removable. Most of all gives you a way to turn your fleet of vehicles into rolling billboards that get seen and get results.

What About Your Insurance Company?

There is one salient point. We always extol the practical and aesthetic benefits of installing or replacing vinyl wrap for a vehicle. However, that always comes to the surface when talking to a potential new customer about their vehicle wrap plans: car insurance.

Does Wrapping A Car Affect Warranty?

The simple truth is that applying a vinyl vehicle wrap to your car or truck will affect your automobile insurance, but not necessarily in the ways that you may think. Let’s take a moment to consider some critical considerations, facts, and tips about vinyl vehicle wraps and your vehicle insurance coverage.

Should I Tell My Car Insurance I Got a Vehicle Wrap?

“Does window tinting affect insurance?”Does Window Tinting Affect Insurance

Before you get a vinyl vehicle wrap installed on your car or truck, we suggest you take an extremely close look at your car insurance policy and even talk to your agent about the decision. Different insurance carriers and tiered plans with the same page can view and address vinyl vehicle wraps with various policies.

Why? Fine print matters! You need to know just exactly how your particular carrier and plan view wraps before you have one applied.

Does Your Car Lose Value If You Wrap It?

Not necessarily. In almost all cases, car insurance companies view vinyl vehicle wraps as accessories because they are not a part of the original vehicle as they came from the dealership or car factory and can be removed. Being an addition means vinyl vehicle wraps are, in most instances, not automatically covered by every car insurance plan. However, that does not mean that they cannot be covered.

Declare Your Vinyl Wrap With Insurance

If you get a vinyl vehicle wrap installed on your vehicle, you should definitely declare it with your car insurance company. The company needs to know your vehicle’s specific color for insurance purposes. Still, you can also determine wrap coverage if damage occurs to your vehicle.

Also, declaring the wrap can often allow it to be added as a “covered approved add-on” on the policy. You may have to pay $2-$5 extra dollars a month for this, but it’s better than not having the coverage on the wrap should something happen to the vehicle.

It would help if you let your insurance know about your wrap in case of an accident or car theft. Having the wraps in place and not having them declared could lead to your claim being delayed or reduced, so let them know about it before and after installation. Better safe than sorry, we say.

Will a Vinyl Vehicle Wrap Make My Premium Go Up?

Installing vinyl vehicle wraps to your vehicle should keep your car insurance premium the same; however, you should ask your car insurance provider before installing the wrap to be sure. Again, if you want the coverage extended to the vinyl wrap, you might see a slight increase of a few dollars for covering the “covered approved add-on.”

The Ultimate Vehicle Wrap Pricing Guide: How Much You Can Expect To Spend

View the ultimate vehicle wrap pricing guide. Learn how much you can expect to spend.

How Much Do Car Wraps Cost?

The price you pay for a vinyl vehicle wrap depends on multiple factors. We list the most common factors that determine car wrapping estimates:

• If you get a full or partial vinyl vehicle wrap

• The size and features of your vehicle

• The quality and brand of the vinyl used to wrap your vehicle

• If the vinyl is a solid color or graphics

• Whether or not you use 3D materials

• Whether or not your use chrome

Ballpark Estimate For A High-Quality Vinyl Vehicle Wrap: $3,000

If you’re looking to wrap your vehicle with vinyl and you want experienced professionals to do it, then you can expect to spend about $3,000. A high-quality vinyl vehicle wrap costs about the same as a new paint job, which generally costs between $3,000 and $4,000.

A vinyl wrap can protect a vehicle and help to keep it relatively clean. You will save on cleaning and painting costs in the long run.

Why You Should Not Purchase And Apply Vinyl For A Car Wrap

You can purchase your vinyl and install the vinyl yourself. Why? We don’t recommend this unless you have vinyl wrapping experience. An imperfect application can cost more in the long run if you don’t install the vinyl correctly.

Vinyl Wrap Complications

More often than not, people doing a DIY vinyl wrap fail to prep the car properly for cleaning. All grime and dirt need to be removed, and one needs to remove any existing vinyl or graphics.

Most people also lack the specialized tools needed for a perfect contour or the know-how to cut the tinted film into perfect fits. Vinyl experts use heat guns to reduce air bubbles when pressing a panel against a car door or contour.

Why Trust A Professional

When you go to a professional for a vinyl vehicle wrap, the end price ultimately depends on the amount of time it takes for the technician to install the wrap, how difficult it is to install the wrap, and the price of the vinyl used for the wrap. Let’s explore a few different wrap options.

Graphic Advertisement Wrap: Why The Type Of Vehicle You Have Matters

Mini Cooper Vinyl WrapThe typical price for a vinyl vehicle wrap with a graphic advertisement on it is $2,500, but the final price depends on the size of your car and how much vinyl is used to wrap the vehicle.

For example, a full-size SUV would probably cost more to wrap than a Mini Cooper because an SUV requires more vinyl to be fully wrapped.

Partial Vehicle Wrap Cost

But then there’s this idea of certain parts of vehicles not being wrapped. Like, if you want a partial vehicle wrap instead of a full, it will be less expensive. Or, if you drive a cargo van, the van’s roof probably won’t need to be wrapped because who’s going to see the top?

In many cases, a cargo van can be less expensive to wrap than a compact sedan because there are fewer windows on cargo vans, and the roof and bumpers don’t need to be wrapped. Wrapping a compact sedan requires much cutting to accommodate all of the windows.

The price of your vinyl wrap depends on your specific car and what parts of it you want to be wrapped. So, we can say that the car wrap price depends on the size of the vehicle.

Vinyl wraps do more than make your vehicle look good. For instance, they provide a degree of security against road rash and other types of damage that could potentially ruin the underlying paint scheme. Remember that fully wrapping your vehicle can save money in the long run in many situations.

For instance, those who invest in something more, like security film, might receive a higher upfront quote. The expense could be worth it in the long run. You won’t have to worry as much about costs associated with repairing damage caused by an act of vandalism later.

Different types of vehicles, in terms of form factor, might also have different prices. This is true, for instance, of those who want to wrap a truck.

Vinyl Truck Wrap Cost

When you want to apply a vinyl vehicle wrap to a truck, Team Acme will first need pictures and the dimensions of the car in question. Our designers, installers, and technicians will review these vital pieces of information to decide the best way to wrap a truck.

Once we have a design that will work, our crews will carefully clean any debris from your vehicle, though we ask that the car come in clean. The wrap is then installed by squeegeeing the adhesive sheeting into place. We take your truck out into the sun to dry as soon as the vinyl wrap is in place.

Generally, wrapping a car will take around 1-2 days, especially if the drying time is quick. When wrapping a truck, it can sometimes take longer due to the size,  though you shouldn’t be without your vehicle for very long. Many logistics companies will have a truck wrapped both to ensure that the vehicle stays looking sharp and to provide an additional source of advertising for their brand.

Truck wrap cost estimates run anywhere from $3,000 for those looking for a full paint replacement wrap. This is the same for anyone who wants to wrap a vehicle, thus making the balance sheet related to truck wrap costs not much different than anything else.

The cost depends on how much it gets wrapped and the design chosen. Those with a small vehicle might see a truck wrap cost estimate as low as $3,000. In either case, the cost of wrapping a truck is usually considerably lower than investing in an entirely new paint scheme.

Graphic Advertising Vehicle Wraps Deliver An ROI For Your Business

When you are wrapping one vehicle or an entire fleet of vehicles for your business, you can have an opportunity to advertise your company wherever you drive your vehicle or wherever you park it. This increase in visibility drives more business to your door than a lack of vehicle branding.

The logical question is probably, “How much more business?” Realistically speaking, it’s incalculable. Car and truck wrap cost figures are usually relatively reasonable compared to most other forms of advertising, which calculates at least somewhat in your favor when it comes time to start loosening up the purse strings and investing in a marketing solution.

Vehicle Wraps Provide Your Business The Return On Investment

Think of a billboard. You rarely see a blank billboard because there’s typically a line of brands competing for that valuable space. It’s always out there, putting your brand in the minds of everyone who drives past it.

Your fleet of vehicles is like a moving, permanent billboard constantly getting your brand out there. Even better, it takes no additional effort on your part to make the advertising happen. Once the wrap is on there, it works for you all day. Can you say that promoting your business is not a great option?

Paint Replacement Wrap: A More Expensive Vinyl Wrapping Option

Getting a wrap that looks like a new coat of paint is typically more expensive than graphic advertisement wraps. This has to do with the more expensive wrap you need- it has to be metallic-looking.

It has to be the factory color, with the exact degree of gloss or matte the original paint color has. With this type of wrap, you can expect to spend between $3,000 and $3,600. This is because the details required for paint replacement wraps are more extensive than needed for graphic advertisement wraps.

Specialty Vinyl And Partial Vinyl Wraps: A Super Affordable Vehicle Wrapping Option

For a partial vinyl vehicle wrap, you can pay as little as $250 for a professional technician to design and install it. The price increases because of high-quality materials such as carbon fiber. If you want specialty vinyl, like chrome or black matte, you can expect the wrap price to be higher.

Chrome vinyl is the most expensive film you can buy and is the most challenging to install. It almost doubles the price of the wrap. On the other hand, it delivers a look that will truly make your ride stand out from the crowd.

The Dangers Of Spending Money On A Low-Quality Vinyl Vehicle Wrap

Any consumer goes bargain hunting when looking for services. This includes when you want a vinyl vehicle wrap. However, a less expensive wrap job can cost you more long-term. When you go for just any wrap service because of its low price, you risk:

  • Low-quality wraps that peel and fade
  • Poor installations with bubbles, peels cracks
  • Damage to your current hull.

Don’t Spend More Money On Car Wraps Because Of A Cheap Service

Those realities above mean that you spend money on a new vinyl wrap or a replacement installation, and if the poor quality work damages your hull, that’s another repair expense. It may even put you in a position to repaint your car.

The initial price tag is lower than expected does not mean you will save money on your wrap in the long term by scrounging the bottom of the barrel. Think about the total cost of ownership. Sticker shock is a common problem when it comes time to invest in a new product, but even a relatively high upfront cost can translate into lower costs over the lifetime of whatever it is that you’re

How High-Quality Wraps Preserve Your Hull

The quality of a vehicle’s hull relates to its appraised worth. A high-quality vinyl wrap keeps your vehicle’s hull in near-perfect condition. This is another factor to consider when assessing the actual cost of wrapping versus not wrapping.

Now, you have the information about the following regarding a car wrap:

  • Vehicle wrap details,
  • Full wrap vs. partial wrap
  • Wrapping your car yourself vs. getting help from professionals
