As a shop that designs and installs vehicle wraps, you have to know that we’re going to say yes. But the answer usually isn’t so simple, so it may actually be more important question how well they work and whether they’ll work for your particular business.
The Stats
According to the Outdoor Advertising Association of America and the Advertising Council of America:
What They Mean
It means that if you’re not using vehicle wraps, your missing huge opportunities to market your business locally. With so many people walking or driving around Las Vegas (over 600,000 in the city alone), a wrapped vehicle that’s parked or driving nearby has a better opportunity to be seen by someone in the area who needs your product or service.
One study done by the Outdoor Advertising Association of America found that vehicle wraps were the most effective form of outdoor advertising because you get the attention of the highest number of people for a relatively low, one-time cost.
Lower Cost Per Impression
With vehicle wraps, the cost per 1,000 impressions (CPM) is between 50¢ and 75¢. When it comes to low cost visibility, this beats other advertising by a landslide. Radio’s CPM is between $5 – $12 and TV’s is $18 – $24. Even billboards have a CPM of around $2 and a one-day, quarter-page newspaper ad is $12 CPM. And the great thing about wraps is that your not paying monthly fees to rent space or anything like that. So while the initial cost may be higher, it winds up paying for itself pretty quickly.
You can even calculate break even for your wrap! We’ve got a handy guide with a super simple formula that will let you calculate how many new sales you’ll need to make with your wrap in order to pay off the cost. Anything over the number you get is pure profit!
Effective Design Matters
However, you can just slap any old design on your vehicle and hope it does the trick. They key to leveraging this opportunity lies in the design. People driving by only have a couple seconds to see who you are, what you do and how to get in touch. So you want to make those seconds count.
Don’t overcrowd your design with images or text. Keep it simple and only include the most important information: business name, logo, phone number or URL. Depending on the size of your vehicle and the space you have available, you can also include your main service(s), slogan or USP (unique selling proposition – something that makes you different (and better than) competitors!)
Regardless of what kind of business you run, vehicle wraps are a low cost, effective way to advertise yourself. Plumbers, contractors, flower shops, food trucks and everything in between can benefit from a well executed wrap.
