Are you looking for ways to bring some creativity to your business or workplace? Creative thinking is fostered in relaxed work settings where the staff is encouraged to express their ideas and work collaboratively. If you are looking for ways to get your creative juices flowing, look no further!
1. Focus on your passion
Nothing will get you going like thinking about what you love. Whether it is business or pleasure, the things in life that you love will inspire you and draw out your creativity.
2. Create a space to capture your ideas
Whether you create a list on your phone, a document on your computer or use Post-It notes, have something close by to make note of your ideas. Even at night this can be important…often some of your most creative thoughts happen as you fall asleep or wake up (or even during a shower!). Having a central location for all of your brainstorming will help you synthesize the ideas once you are ready.
3. Trust yourself
Don’t get down if a few days go by and you are still having trouble coming up with ideas. Relax and know that the ideas will come. Taking the pressure off of yourself may be just what you need to get the creative juices flowing.
4. Find a place that relaxes you
Think back to when you have had your best ideas. Outdoors, in your office, at the beach, on your front porch…the more relaxed you are, the more creative you can be.
5. Collaborate with others
Collaboration is one of the keys to creativity. Bouncing ideas off of others, hearing different ways that people think of things can spark many new ideas.
6. Rest up
It may seem simple, but being rested and eating well also contribute to enhanced creativity.
7. Give it time
If you are unable to come up with the ideas that you want, take a break and give it some time. Often, giving your brain a break can result in powerful new connections and ideas when you spend time on something entirely unrelated.
8. Change your routine
We are all creatures of habit. If you are trying to get some creative inspiration, try changing your daily routine. Eat something different for breakfast, exercise at a different time of day and see if a routine change might spark creativity.
9. Take a vacation
Take the pressure off and get away. You cannot expect to be creative all of the time, so give yourself permission to check out.
We are on our phones all the time; we watch TV, listen to music and work on our computers on and off all day/night. Disconnect from all of your devices and just spend some time thinking.
