The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino stands 36 stories and 475 feet high with 4,049 suites, 4,059 hotel rooms, a 120,000 square-foot casino and is one of the strip’s many famous icons.
Inspired but the classically beautiful city of Venice, Italy, The Venetian features many replicas of various landmarks in Venice including the Palazzo Ducale, Piazza San Marco, Piazzetta di San Marco, the Lion of Venice Column and the Column of Saint Theodore, St. Mark’s Campanile, and the Rialto Bridge.
The landmark most important to our story, however, is the Piazza San Marco, which is the inspiration behind the Venetian Clock Tower.
Impressive up close or at a distance, the clock tower has been in service since the late 90s. The focal point of Carnevale, a summer-long festival that is anchored by the nightly 3D projection show on the Venetian’s tower, this clock certainly gets a lot of attention.
And while tourists may be attracted to the tower for its beauty, it caught the attention of the Venetian’s staff for other reasons.
They noticed that the curtains covering the tower’s false windows would fade out every few years. At 100 feet in the air, the tower sure does get a lot of Nevada sun! Yet the cost of removing the old curtains and procuring and installing the new ones combined with the cost of removal and install of the false windows was excessive, to say the very least.
And that’s where Team Acme comes in. When The Venetian contacted us about their problem, we suggested cast vinyl window treatments instead. The film would last for about eight years, and they would never have to remove the windows to install or replace the film, and could keep up the appearance of having curtains without the frustration of maintaining them, taboot! Talk about savings!
And that’s when The Venetian put us to work.
We installed 8 year cast vinyl in all 50 or so windows on the tower, which took us about 3 days on an 85 foot boom lift. One lane on Las Vegas Boulevard was shut down been 2am and 10am so we could get the work done. But we did it! And now all they’re going to have to do is have the vinyl replaced about once a decade without all the expense and hassle that was involved with the curtains.
Maybe you’re wondering why we suggested cast vinyl. Well, it’s because cast vinyl has a few advantages including:
